What this site is

Cross Stitch Pattern Maker is a set of free tools for cross stitchers: a converter that turns photos and pixel art into charts, a generator for names and phrases, an editor (the Studio) for drawing and tidying charts, printable PDF export, blank graph paper, and a tracker for marking stitches as you go. There’s also a small library of original patterns and a set of practical guides.

Everything works without an account. Projects are kept in your own browser, and images you convert are processed on your device rather than uploaded.

Who runs it

The site is run by an independent operator rather than a thread brand or a pattern shop, so the tools don’t steer you towards any product. We don’t publish personal biographies or invented credentials; you can judge the tools and guides by what they do, and every method is documented on the How it works page.

How it is funded

The tools are free. The plan is to cover hosting costs with clearly labelled advertising on content pages (guides, the pattern library and tool explanations), never inside the editor, the tracker, PDFs or next to download buttons. Ads are not running yet. There are no paid plans, subscriptions or sales of patterns or supplies.

How the content is made

  • Patterns in the library were designed for this site as digital stitch data. Their previews are drawn from that data. They are original digital designs, not photographs of stitched samples.
  • Stitch alphabets and ornaments were drawn stitch by stitch for this site and released under CC0.
  • Guides are written for this site. Technical points (fabric counts, strands, thread handling) follow widely published stitching guidance; where a recommendation varies between stitchers we say so.
  • Example images on tool pages are real output of the converter, using licensed sample photos from Pixabay. See Licenses.

What we won’t do

  • Claim that screen colours match thread perfectly, or label custom colours with brand codes.
  • Show fake reviews, ratings or user counts.
  • Promise a time to finish a project or a “professional score.”
  • Upload your photos or require sign-up for core features.
